Delhi govt okays Metro to Gurgaon
By September 2010, crawling through the choked NH 8 or MG Road may not be the only way to commute between Delhi and Gurgaon.
On Tuesday, the Metro link between these cities was approved by Delhi government and the plan is being sent for final clearance to the Centre.
Once the Centre gives the go-ahead, DMRC wants to have this 15-km-long extension line — it will link Qutub with Shushant Lok and cost Rs 1,422 crore — ready just in time for the Commonwealth Games.
The 28-km distance from Rajpath to Gurgaon would take less than an hour on the Metro instead of the current average time of two hours by road.
As per the new plan, the line would remain underground till Saket and come overground after crossing the Mehrauli-Badarpur Road.
The Group of Ministers will examine the proposal next week before putting its final stamp of approval.

Delhi-Gurgaon metro to start by June 2010
The Haryana Government on Wednesday said that the 14.5-km Metro railway line between Qutub Minar and Sushant Lok linking the Capital with Gurgaon would be operational by June 2010 before the start of the Commonwealth Games.

Delhi Metro Line-II to enter Gurgaon
Commuting to the capitals satellite town Gurgaon will become easier as the Delhi government Tuesday decided to expand the Delhi Metro Line-II seven kilometres inside the IT township.
Delhi Chief Minster Tuesday said that Line-II of Delhi Metro would now go up to Sushant Lok, Gurgaon, and would traverse through populated neighbourhoods like Saket, Hauz Khas and Malviya Nagar.
The line from the Central Secretariat to Sushant Lok will be of 28 km and is expected to be operational months before the Commonwealth Games to be hosted here in 2010.
