Delhi to have nine cultural centres
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit inaugurated a district cultural centre in west Delhi Saturday and announced similar centres would be opened in the other eight districts of the city.
This centre at Janakpuri would help propagate unity in diversity and provide an opportunity to different organisations to stage shows, she said.
Constructed at a cost of Rs.20 million, the new centre is a joint initiative of Sahitya Kala Parishad and Delhi Public Library.
The centre will train and provide a platform to upcoming artistes and help decentralise cultural activities in Delhi.
Education Minister A.S. Lovely said the capital is set to become a cultural hub before the 2010 Commonwealth Games commence.

New Delhi : Thousands of students queued up outside 16 centres Thursday on the last day of sale of common admission forms for entry into Delhi University colleges.
Till yesterday, we had sold 125,000 forms and today we must have sold 10,000 forms in 16 information centres across the city, said S.K. Vij, dean of students welfare.

New Delhi : A day before the start of the Delhi University (DU) admission season, student organisations affiliated to different national political parties are busy making strategies to woo students joining undergraduate classes.
We would be setting up around 30 help centres for students coming to north and south campuses to fill up admission forms in colleges, said Ragini Nayak, president of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) and a member of the National Students Union of India (NSUI).
She added that 16 of these centres would be set up by DUSU while the remaining would be readied by NSUI.
Chief Minister D D Lapang says that he will link this facility with other district hospitals in the state too
The Meghalaya government will take the initiative for a tie-up with Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi for tele-medicines, Meghalaya Chief Minister D D Lapang said on Tuesday.
A small tele-medicine facility was set up at Shillong Civil Hospital and the tie- up with the Delhi hospital would immensely benefit the patients from different parts of Meghalaya, the chief minister said.
