A Delhi court Wednesday framed charges against Lok Sabha MP Rajesh Ranjan Yadav alias Pappu Yadav for filing a false affidavit and fabricating evidence in connection with the murder of a Bihar legislator in 1998.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kamini Lau framed the charges under Sections 181 (knowingly stating to a public servant on oath as true that which is false) and 182 (giving false information to a public servant in order to cause him to use his lawful power to the injury or annoyance of any person) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Stating that there was prima facie sufficient evidence on record to proceed against the accused, the magistrate fixed Nov 4 as the date to commence the trial.
The parliamentarian from Bihar has been charged for giving false information to Delhi High Court in 1999 about an investigation against him in connection with Ajit Sarkars murder in 1998.

The Delhi High Court is expected to decide on the bail application of Vikas Yadav, the main accused in the Nitish Katara murder case.
