Delhis shop sealing drive to see durable sales dip

This festive season will bring no cheer to consumer durable companies eyeing the capital city of Delhi for high sales offtake, thanks to the sealing drive targeted at commercial establishments in certain parts of the city.

Durable sales in the metro are expected to see a 50% dip during the festive season, lament durable companies and dealers.

Says OP Batra, managing director of Delhi-based Navin Electronics, Since the durable, retailing, malls and grocery shops will be sealed in most parts of Delhi based on the directive of the Supreme Court, the city will witness a 50% dip in durables sales this festive season. LG Electronics India has 70 dealers based in the affected areas in Delhi. Girish Rao, vice president (sales and marketing), LG Electronics India said, While Delhi contributes 6-7% to our overall sales turnover during the festival season, the recent Supreme Courts directive on sealing the shops will definitely have an adverse impact on LGs durable sales. Last year, the festival season nationally contributed 30% to our overall sales turnover.

Delhi traders to observe bandh on Tuesday

Traders in the national Capital on Monday called a 24-hour bandh on Tuesday to protest resumption of sealing drive. We have called for a traders bandh in the Capital on Tuesday to protest against the resumption of sealing drive, Confederation of All India Traders Vice President Ramesh Khanna said. He said the traders body has asked the shopkeepers to protest peacefully in their areas by orgainsing marches and dharnas. The capitals winter chill did not deter Delhi traders today to knock the doors of the countrys lawmakers to represent their grievances on sealing drive in the floor of the Lok Sabha tomorrow. Over 1,000 properties sealed in Delhi in four days

The Supreme Court-ordered drive against illegal commercial units in the Capital continued on Thursday with the MCD sealing 149 properties in the city. Since resuming the sealing drive in Delhi on Monday, officials of the corporation have taken action against 1013 properties. A maximum number of 35 units were sealed in West zone today -- in Rajouri Garden, Kirti Nagar, Vishnu Garden, Shankar Garden and Tilak Nagar areas. More : hindustantimes.com

New Delhi, Dec 05: Delhi traders today demanded setting up of a special task force comprising officials and shopkeepers to incorporate remedial measures in the Master Plan 2021 so that their businesses could be saved from the court-ordered sealing drive.
