For the first time, the government has asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to provide details on the status of its probe into the serious allegations of corruption against former Chief Justice of India (CJI) Y.K. Sabharwal.
The government move comes ahead of its expected reply in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, where Law Minister M. Veerappa Moily is ikely inform the House on the outcome of the complaints forwarded to his ministry by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).
The CVC, acting on a set of complaints filed by Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan, after it found merit in his complaints supported by documentary evidence, had last year forwarded it to the CBI and the Department of Justice for necessary action.

With Rashtrapati Bhavan promptly referring the clemency petition filed by family members of Mohammad Afzal, convicted in the 2001 Parliament attack case, to the Centre, the Union Home Ministry today sought the Delhi Governments views on the issue.
The Centre also communicated to Superintendent of Tihar Jail, where Afzal is lodged, informing him that the Home Ministry has received a clemency petition and that it is under consideration of the ministry.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has identified six more persons, including two agents from the city, for their involvement in the multi-crore DDA housing allotment scam.
The agents have been identified as Deepak and Suresh.
EOW sources said interrogation of Laxmi Narain Meena, the suspended bank official arrested from Jhunjhunu (Rajasthan) on Friday, has revealed that these new suspects had provided money to some SC/ST applicants to lay hands on their original documents.
Meanwhile, the police have another resident of Jhunjunu, Ratanlal, who had allegedly helped Meena gather documents and information on people from the Meena community, has a witness.

DPS, Delhi stood first in the meet which concluded at the swimming pools of the National Institute of Sports, here on Saturday.
In the senior boys section SM Adil of DPS, Mathura Road was adjudged the best swimmer of the meet.
